While hardcore comic readers could have told you that as the Sanctuary has appeared in comics, in various iterations, since 1975 in Warlock issue #10, the script for Ragnarok outright confirms the name of the ship in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which is known to deviate from the comics from time to time. The script for Thor: Ragnarok confirms it is Thanos’s ship, and it’s got a name: Sanctuary-2. The whole screenplay is worth a read, especially to see which gags were actually written and which were improvised on set, but the most interesting is the post-credits scene, where Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) are blindsided by a comically large and imposing war ship designed to look like Thanos. On Wednesday, as part of its seasonal awards campaign, Disney released an edited version of the Thor: Ragnarok screenplay, written by Eric Pearson, Craig Kyle, and Christopher Yost (and reportedly punched up with humor by director Taika Waititi). But the film’s script reveals a little bit more: The name of Thanos’s ship. The post-credits scene of Thor: Ragnarok teased the ominous arrival of the Mad Titan, Thanos (played by Josh Brolin), who will collect the fabled Infinity Stones and wield all the power in the Marvel Universe.

Thor was considered one of the most boring lead characters in the MCU, but after Ragnarok flipped the script, he became someone that the fans actually wanted to see on the big screen. The end of Asgard has come and gone, but Avengers: Infinity War is on the horizon. Thor: Ragnarok changed everything for its titular character in the best way possible.
